Attendance Requirements
During the school year the Head Teacher is expected to work the following schedule: M/W/F 7:40am-3:10pm (7.5 hours), & Tu/Th 7:40-11:40am (4 hours) according to the terms listed in the Teacher Employment Contract and to complete mandatory staff training. Break/Vacation days (as per West Central School Corporation’s calendar) are also MNS student/staff vacation days. The Head Teacher is not expected to work on student break/vacation days.

Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a High School Diploma or General Education Diploma.
- Must hold and maintain current First Aid/CPR/AED and Bloodborne Pathogen certifications.
- Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds.
- Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in preschool education or a related field.
- A college degree or classes toward a college degree are preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Reports to the MNS Board.
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times.
- Develop, plan and implement a preschool program for children ages 3-5 that is developmentally appropriate and enables the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of our students.
- Ensure regular observation of children throughout the year.
- Maintain daily child attendance log.
- Arrange for and attend field trips.
- Organize special classroom events throughout the year.
- Arrange for special programs (i.e. Christmas Program and Graduation).
- Decorate the classroom.
- Publish monthly classroom newsletter.
- Manage and track all copies made using the West Central Elementary copier.
- Build relationships with families (at drop off/pick-up times, via phone calls, etc.)
- Attend monthly board meetings.
- Arrange for parent/teacher conferences.
- Collaborate with West Central Kindergarten teachers to ensure continuity of programming.
- Purchase items (snacks, milk, cleaning supplies, etc.) as needed per MNS Treasurer guidelines.
- Oversee classroom budget.
- Assist with any grant proposals and purchases as needed by the MNS board.
- Be familiar with program policies of Medaryville Nursery School.
- Read and be familiar with the MNS Parent Handbook and the MNS Board Bylaws and Policies/Procedures.
- Follow all rules, responsibilities, and provisions outlined in the Medaryville Nursery School Collaboration Lease Agreement with West Central School Corporation.

- The Head Teacher will also be compensated for four (4) full (7.5 hour) days for extra prep time, parent/teacher conferences, mandatory training, and attendance to a majority of the MNS Board meetings in addition to the following mandatory identified special events:
- Meet-The-Teacher Night
- Francesville Fall Festival/Pancake Breakfast
- Christmas Program
- Parent Information Session
- Park Day
- Graduation
- This schedule totals 175 student days + 4 work/event days.
